About

I design courses the way I'd want to take them.

I'm Reham Abuemira — a higher-education educator and instructional designer with a PhD in Technology in Education and Second Language Acquisition from the University of South Florida. For nine years I've been designing, building, and teaching courses across online, hybrid, and face-to-face formats.

A course isn't finished when the content is written. It's finished when a learner can do something they couldn't do before.

My work usually starts before anyone writes a slide: a needs analysis, a conversation with the subject-matter expert, a clear-eyed look at what learners actually need to be able to do. Everything after that — the modules, the activities, the assessments, the video — is built backward from that answer.

I've designed curricula for language programs, migrated face-to-face courses into Canvas without losing what made them work, produced AI-generated video libraries for training teams, and adapted materials so visually impaired students could use them properly. I evaluate what I build against Quality Matters standards, and I take accessibility seriously — captions, contrast, structure — because a course that excludes people isn't well designed, however it looks.

I teach as an adjunct professor at USF's College of Education, and I work with faculty and cross-functional teams who need scalable training that holds up. I'm a native speaker of Arabic and English, which has shaped a lot of my work in language and international programs.
